The VK's were the fastest and finest of the Group C Commodore breed. The Holden Dealer Team rolled out a brand new pair of Day-Glo VK's for the last 3 big races of the year. Brock and Perkins won the James Hardie 1000, and Brock went on to win the Sandown 500 and the Surfers Paradise 300.
Subsequently this car was sold to European interests where it raced with considerable success, setting lap records and winning 2 championships in the Thunder sports category. In 2002 the car returned to Australia and underwent a full restoration by classic car specialist. John Van Roosmallen.
20 years after his original success with the car, Brock was reunited with the VK at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England. Brock drove the VK to a top 5 position.
