The XU-1 was powered by a giant killing 202 cubic inch (3310 cc) in line six. Peter Brocks' first Bathurst crown came in 1972, after driving his XU-1 for the whole distance. This was the last year drivers could race without the assistance of a co-driver. The race took him 6hrs 1min and 53secs to complete.
