Harry Firth was not in the least surprised when Brock co-driving with veteran Des West, finished third outright at his first 500. Both in the newly-formed Holden Dealer Team, Firth had entered a three car assault on the mountain. Colin Bond and Tony Roberts went on to win the race in one of the HDT Monaros. Peter Macrow & Henk Woelders finished 6th in the third Monaro, out of six Holden's entered, three were DNFs.
This original race car has been fully restored after being found in a barn in New South Wales.
